Once in the town, there are a variety of travel options open to visitors. For car users, Leamington Spa has excellent parking facilities across the town. Taxis are readily available for the convenience of shoppers and travellers alike, and there are frequent buses and trains for trips around the town or further afield.

Of course these days it is very easy to book bus, train and coach tickets online for forthcoming travel and this can sometimes result in great savings when compared with purchasing tickets on the day of travel. It’s a good idea to plan ahead and see what bargains you can snap up.

Rail Travel

Leamington spa boasts an impressive railway station dating back to 1852. The station is owned by National Rail, although it is operated by Chiltern Railways. And while its façade is somewhat tired these days, it can perhaps be forgiven as 1.4 million passengers passed through its doors in 2007/2008.

Three lines radiate from the station:

  • One line heading north west towards Birmingham by way of Warwick and Solihull, with a branch to Stratford upon Avon diverging at Hatton, some six miles from Leamington Spa.
  • One line travelling north through Kenilworth towards Coventry.
  • One line heading south east towards Banbury, beyond which it splits into two routes, heading for Marylebone Station in London and the other through Oxford towards Reading.

Bus Travel

Stagecoach is one of the largest bus operators in the country, and manages a network of daily, frequent bus routes around Leamington Spa and also to nearby towns and villages

Stagecoach reports that bus usage continues to increase, with more and more people opting to take the bus instead of the car. This may be in part because the fleet is being continually upgraded, with the majority of buses now having low floors with easy access. This step-free feature, combined with more space for buggies and wheelchair access is certainly a winner with bus-users around the town.

Bus operators in Warwickshire are committed to providing all passengers with value for money travel and offer a range of tickets to suit all. Currently available are dayrider and dayrider gold, which are day passes, and longer term passes megarider and megarider gold. Discounted fares and passes are also available for children, senior citizens and other eligible groups.
